and the Moon is Split Asunder by neverness and the Moon is Split Asunder by neverness
The Quran Surah: 54 Qamar The Moon

1- The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder
2- And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."

The split of the moon is mostly refered to an event that happened in Prophet Muhammed(pbuh)'s lifetime, when the disbelievers of Quraish (the ruling tribe of Makkah) asked the Prophet(pbuh) to show them a miracle to prove his prophethood. So he pointed the moon and witnesses saw it splitting into two. Some other scholars refer to these verses as the signs of the last hour (before the judgement day). And a very few claim that these verses indicate the Apollo 13 landing on the moon and first man stepping on the moon.

I, for myself don't have any problem by the actual split of the moon by the Prophet(pbuh). People, even the religious ones, question the miracles of God practised by the Prophets(pbut), saying: I believe in God, but I have hard time believing in Moses(pbuh) splitting the Red Sea or Jesus(pbuh) bringing the dead back to life, etc... In the other hand, I find a human being coming to life in mothers womb or the amazing aspects of earth, it's gravity, atmosphere and how they work in conjuction to allow life sound more amazing than any miracle I read in the holy books. In this regard, I see the Quran as a true miracle, because it steps ahead and explains why and how all these amazing things come to existance: the very questions man asks...

Thanks for viewing.

Softwares: Terragen and Photoshop.
Original Size: 6100 x 10700 px
Note: I actually used 2 terragen renders on top of each other in this piece. The bottom one gives dimension when looked close-up. I lost the count of layers in PS, briefly; too many.

I also submit a detail crop from this work so you could see the original look: [link]

You know, I'm thinking of making a film about the Prophet(s.a.w.s.) and using your work as a basis of the splitting of the moon! Although I'm only 18 years old, but that'll happen soon enough Insha Allah.
Nice work, really. This interpretation is more realistic than anything I've imagined.

This reminds me of the movie "the timemachine" at one point the main character goes to the future and the moon has broken into half and some pieces are trailing behind it.

Very cool picture, and i love the way you add arabic to your pictures to give them that added bit of coolness, i think arabic is one of the coolest writen languages out there.

Your description reminds me of a random song I like called "holy now" --
"Wine from water is not so small
but an even better magic trick
is that anything is here at all
so the challenging thing becomes
not to look for miracles
but the find them where there isn't one . . ."

I really like this piece. (Mild moon obsession) It's believable, and lovely, somehow surreal despite its sincere grounding in reality -- though, I suppose, the moon splitting isn't standard-issue for our night skies, but it's made so that it looks real and all . . . all the same, there's something otherworldly about it.
Beautiful. Nice attention to detail, not just to realism but to beauty itself.

True, true. Patience IS a virtue.....But I'm the most patient person in my family, so it's probably why I'm one of the only artists. (the closest relative who was died at 16....:'( I wish I could've met him...)

Salaam Alaikum brother Ali,

Jazak Allah Khair for your nice comments. I'm trying -not with my best- but as much as I can, to spread the message out there. Allah is Great, not me. Whatever I do is by the permission of Allah, I can't do anything better or worse without Allah's will.

May Allah be with you and with all of our Ummah.

This is simply amazing! For my self, I imagine the splitting of the moon in another way, perfect and quiet and they even said a mountain could be seen between the two halfs. Yours is more distructive and scary, but I love it anyway.
Great piece of work! I got to look around more of your gallery!

Thank you! Yes, I also read how the event happened and it's just like you described. But when I thought of picturing it the way it happened, I knew that wouldn't be as effective. It's because I can't manage to picture it.

Thank you again.

Btw; I'm looking for a job in UAE. If you hear anything, let me know :)

I have always tried to visualize the the spliting of the moon as mentioned but this is picture really hits the point. We should all be afraid of the Final Day. This picture serves as a good reminder.
